so i got this mail from a lecturer from psychology and i find it really amusing.
well, here's how it goes..
Greetings to all Psych Students,
Just want to alert you that next week’s lecture will be a briefing on the group project. This means we will be covering:
What is the Group Project
What you have to do.
When you have to do it.
How it will be marked.
We will also
Review Past Projects
Discuss how to plan and shoot your commercial
Discuss how to plan and present your Oral Presentation.
Please note that the lecture slides for this topic can be downloaded from Blackboard (in Course Documents).
I strongly suggest you come for this lecture. I have noticed that attendance has dropped from about 90%+ in Week 2 to about 50% in Week 6 (last week).
Should I persuade you? Using Central Persuasion I can promise that you will learn important pointers about the group project during the briefing. Using peripheral persuasion I can say that there will be a lot of cute girls and guys in the lecture theatre and if they are coming so should you!
How about conformity? All your friends will be going so you might as well. Or maybe Obedience? Do it because I, the lecturer, say so. And trust me, you will regret it if you don’t come.
Maybe I should motivate you by offering incentives? Come to the lecture and project grade will go up. Or should I appeal to Cognitive Intrinsic? You’ll get a chance to see some of the better and more interesting projects from the previous semester.
Should I improve your memory through repetition?
COME TO THE LECTURE! COME TO THE LECTURE! COME TO THE LECTURE!
COME TO THE LECTURE! COME TO THE LECTURE! COME TO THE LECTURE!
COME TO THE LECTURE! COME TO THE LECTURE! COME TO THE LECTURE!
COME TO THE LECTURE! COME TO THE LECTURE! COME TO THE LECTURE!
COME TO THE LECTURE! COME TO THE LECTURE! COME TO THE LECTURE!
And should I help you learn by using rewards and punishments? Come to the lecture and your grade will go up. Don’t come and you’ll lose marks.
Should I tell you about previous semester’s research results? That indicate that for each lecture you miss your grade goes down about 3% (not because I lower your mark but because you have no idea what’s going on if you don’t attend the lectures)?
Or should I just leave it up to you?
See you next week (maybe).
